Cherries and Chocolate what a strange combination right?
I thought so too!
Until I tried this bad boy! It tastes amazing, and a fun one to try out. With the added protein in there, you can use this as your post-workout shake, or snack in between meals. (Dependant on your goals of course)
So lets take a look into the magic of the ingredients...
95% Dark Chocolate...
"Dark chocolate, also known as ‘black chocolate’, is made from the roasted cocoa beans of the cacao tree, fat and sugar. Unlike milk chocolate, dark chocolate has no milk or much less."
Rememeber however this is still something to be eaten in moderation, I wouldn't label it as health food that you should be consuming on a daily basis.
There are a lot of health benefits associated with it, reducing blood pressure is one of them.
"Made from the seed of the cacao tree, it is one of the best sources of antioxidants on the planet. Other healthy nutrients in dark chocolate are soluble fiber, potassium, manganese, zinc, selenium, copper, magnesium and iron."
Its supposed to be very good for circulation, and has been said to improve blood flow to the brain - enhancing brain performance!
Dark Red Cherries...
They are good sources of dietary fibre, potassium, protein, and vitamins A and C.
In addition to all that, they contain copper, manganese, magnesium, iron, calcium, phosphorus and zinc.
When consumed on a regular basis they lower the risk of a gout attack.
"Cherries contain natural melatonin which is a powerful antioxidant and free radical scavenger that helps "cool down" excess inflammation and associated oxidative stress. It also plays a vital role in sleep and bodily regeneration."
I've mentioned the amount of nutriants packed into these guys in a previous juicing post!
"They originated in the Mediterranean region and Central Asia, and have been part of the human diet for thousands of years.
These nuts are rich in omega-3 fats and contain higher amounts of antioxidants than most other foods. Eating walnuts may improve brain health while also helping to prevent heart disease and cancer"
Great for people with dairy alergies or intollerances and also great as a substitute for nursing mothers milk, almond milk is packed full of good stuff!
The health benefits of almond milk include the improvement of vision, weight loss, stronger bones and a strong, healthy heart. It helps in building strong muscles, maintaining ideal blood pressure and maintaining a properly-functioning kidney.
They control cell damage, and are a great source of selenium!
Sunflower seeds have both magnesium and copper, which are great for your bones, magnesium is also great for soothing nerves, and easing stress.
Vitamin E is also there, which helps make your skin more vibrant, and eases arthritic pains.
So all in all, a pretty powerful smoothie for you to try out,
Until tomorrow guys,
